Wow, 3D is awesome!

I may or may not have told you all but when Gracie was born her head was out but the rest of her was stuck inside of me.  It's called shoulder distotia.  This experience wasn't fun for anyone involved.  I was told to push with all my might.  Pete was pushed out of the way while the nurses pushed the "emergency" button and called in the emergency team waiting.  One of the nurses started pushing on my belly while the doctor cut a full episiotomy.  Eventually the doctor managed to get her to turn a bit or something so she was able to be delivered.  Apparently this whole commotion was over within 30 seconds but honestly it felt like an eternity.  The only reason I knew she was a girl was because the doctor said, "She's going to be ok".  I remember leaning up to look at him and said, "it's a girl?".  I didn't see her until later when they were finished helping her go from grey to "normal".  We have this picture of her absolutely screaming her face off.  Pete said that was the best noise he had ever heard.  Little did I understand until he described what it was like to watch the scene unfold.

So with that history I'm scheduled to have a cesarean section this time around.  The reoccurrence rate is 20% and the risk factor of possible problems are not even close to being worth it to me or Pete.  Obviously my recovery will be more difficult and the help that I will need will be more extensive than with my last two births but its a price we're willing to pay.

Today we had my 34 week ultrasound to check the size of "Mowgli".   So far I have been measuring big when I see my OB so she wanted to confirm that the baby is larger than my body could handle.  Typically my hospital doesn't do 3D ultrasounds unless its a medical situation that requires it. The woman who does the ultrasounds in my doctors' office has a reputation with the other people I know that see the same doctor group as unfriendly.  Some how, Lorraine I believe, and I have hit it off.  She and I talk and talk every time I'm in there.  Our common interest is books.  So far I've read a few she's suggested and I know for sure she's read more than one that I've suggested.  It's amazing when you figure out what makes someone happy and you ask them about it how nice they'll be to you.  I happen to tell my buddy that my girlfriends that see doctors in the city have all had 3D pics taken of their babies at this age.  She goes, oh I have that ability on this machine.  The next thing you know, the two of us are playing around and taking pictures of "Mowgli" just for fun.  She seriously worked for an extra 30 minutes just to get a cute picture of our baby.  People pay over a hundred dollars to get the pictures I have now.  I was so excited!!

Both Braden and Gracie were born in the six pound range.  "Mowgli" was already five pounds today.  So if he/she grows at the 1/2 pound rate between now and my due date he/she will be around eight pounds.  A "big" baby for me.  Having this ultrasound today only confirms the decision even further...I mean if a 6 pounder can get stuck then what would happen with an 8 pounder!?

Either way, I'm 34 weeks...and SO excited to share an adorable picture of the newest Fox about to join our already cute family!
